Nahid has an extensive experience in teaching in many different roles and levels. She first began teaching mathematics in 1980 in Tehran, Iran, before immigrating to Canada. In 1992 she received her teaching credential in Canada and began her teaching career as a 6th grade teacher. In 1998, she moved to the United States and started working for school Districts in Southern California. She is experienced in teaching from kindergarten to university level. She has also worked as a computer lab instructor creating computer lessons aligned with the state and the district curriculum. Over the last ten years Nahid has worked as a staff developer for the technology department at a public school district where she managed and directed the professional development for the whole staff. Her professional development involved hands on collaboration with each staff member to assist them in developing grade level lesson plans with technology implementation. She is currently working as an educational consultant while pursuing her doctorate degree in Educational Leadership. She is assisting TIDES with technology implementation, professional development, and program development. She is also working as a facilitator with iQUEST, an NSF funded program at California State University San Marcos that provides professional development focusing on using technology as a tool for engaging students in science. Nahid has a BA in psychology from Shiraz University, Iran; a BA in Education from University of Ottawa, Canada, and a MA in sociology from the Carleton University, Canada. Currently, she is working on her doctorate in Educational Leadership from a joint doctoral program between the University of California, San Diego and California State University, San Marcos. |
