Cheryl Jones-Walker began her professional career as a fourth grade teacher in the Bronx, NY. She continued teaching in the Boston area independent school and then Internationally in Gabon, Central Africa. Currently she is a post-doctoral fellow in the Educational Studies program at Swathmore College.
Prior to doctoral work at University Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education, Cheryl worked at the Center for Collaborative Education in Boston, a non-profit educational organization committed to improving urban education K-12. As a facilitator for the Turning Points reform initiative she provided on-site coaching and technical assistance to Boston Public middle schools engaged in systemic reform. In addition, Cheryl co-directed the Boston Pilot Schools, a network of small progressive district schools with charter-like autonomies.
